City Mayor Eric Singson, Ilocos Sur Governor Jerry Singson, and the City Council, headed by City Vice Mayor Kristelle Singson, spearheaded the city and provincial government’s participation in the Parada ng Kalayaan 2024 as part of the major events in this year’s 126th Philippine Independence Day celebration. They presented the ‘Cry of Candon’ (Ikkis ti Candon) float, an impressive architectural creation depicting the historic revolt led by local hero Don Isabelo Abaya. On March 25, 1898, Abaya led revolutionaries against Spanish injustices. The ‘Cry of Candon’ float, along with 10 other floats, portrayed significant moments in the Philippines’ journey to independence and nationhood. His Excellency, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., led the celebrations at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
