City Mayor Ericson bares accomplishments
In front of the leaders of Candon and stakeholders, City Mayor Ericson Singson stood to detailed all his near six months in office accomplishments.
Clad in barong tagalog, Singson in his 55 minutes speech highlighted by the numerous infrastructure projects and the completed programs and projects in other departments.
The State of the City address was the highlight of the oath taking of barangay officials of the 42 barangays of the city.
The affair was graced by Congressman Eric Singson who administered the oath taking.
Also present were City Vice Mayor Alfonso Singson, the other city officials, officers of the aligned national agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector and other civic groups.
“It’s indeed an honor and privilege to report to the people whom I owe so much trust and confidence for giving me the opportunity to serve,” Singson said in his speech
Among the major infrastructure the he mentioned were the completion of the Dry goods market building, eight covered courts and other projects.
Additional infrastructure projects are also appropriated for 2014 with the P40 million tobacco excise tax (RA 7171) city share was approved.
The city government budgeted P5.5 million for construction of farm to market roads in eight barangays and also PP4.45 million for construction/ improvement of multipurpose hall for nine barangays.
Other projects funded includes construction of solar dryers, flood control, drainage canals and slope protection in the different barangays of the city.
In his speech Singson also pointed out the laudable projects and programs in our areas.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council was strengthen with additional equipment and trainer’s training of course of emergency response participated by concern officials and personnel.
The scholarship program remains with even additional beneficiaries. The educational assistance for first year high schoolers and school supplies and bags for day care and grade 1 pupils were provided.
The programs for the agriculture sector were further uplifted with the continuous provision of agricultural inputs and their needs.
The city government gave immediate response to the needs of farmers after the city was struck by Habagat and typhoon Maring.
Fisher folks were also given fingerlings.
Many plants also suffered from the ill effects of bacterial leaf blight and rice blast.
The city government provided fungicides for the affected farmers.
Fertilizer subsidy was also given in the partnership of the city government and Congressman Eric Singson.
The health sector without doubt is also one of the top priorities of the city government with the city mayor a medical doctor and surgeon himself.
Candonians and nearby towns were benefitted from the recent Gift of Sight Foundation of Las Vegas Nevada in joint partnership with the office of Congressman Eric Singson and the city government.
City Mayor Singson also mentioned the upcoming conduct of medical missions that goes along the advocacy program of the city government in all the 42 barangays of the city.
The City Mayor also assured that he will be giving his best for the fulfillment of every Candonians’ dream of good life.
“We have long way to go but rest assured as I just stated our accomplishments we are on the right track, on the correct highway. On the boulevard of the fulfillment of our dreams.” He said
Singson close his speech by underscoring the standard of his administration.
“Let Excellence in Governance and Service be the norm in our administration.” He said.
