The Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) of Candon City is on its 17th year and still going strong!
SPES is a program that teaches students the value and dignity of work and learns the basics of public service and governance.
For this year, there are 85 SPES
City Mayor Ericson G. Singson, M.D. and City Vice-Mayor Alfonso D. Singson in coordination with the Department of Labor and employment (DOLE), made possible the continuing program of the SPES.
Under the SPES, the students are “exposed” to the day-to-day work of a service-oriented government employee.
The grantees do research work, encode data, go for on-field works, process vouchers, answer telephone calls, fax messages, send out memos, and do other related work in their designated office or department.
They also participate in the clean and green program of the city through the planting of trees along the Marina Road at Barangay Darapidap.
The SPES program lasted for 25 days
With each granted given P4,200 as compensation for their varied works.
Their farewell party was graced by
City Mayor Ericson G. Singson, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Atty. Kristelle Singson and Johnny Nestor Itchon, city department heads and city employees.
