Candon City thru its Public Employment Services Office has added a breakthrough service for its clients and stakeholders.
It launched recently its One-Stop-Shop Processing and DOLE Allied Services Program for prospective jobseekers, those for local and abroad.
Among the participating National Agencies were Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), PAG-IBIG Fund, Social Services System (SSS), TESDA, Philhealth, House of Representatives – Ilocos Sur 2nd Congressional District Office, and the City Government of Candon.
This signals the added convenience and access to major government agencies aligned to employment promotions for the Candonians and the whole Second District of Ilocos Sur as was originally envisioned by Congressman Eric Singson for some two years ago.
The creation of this One-stop-shop Employment Assistance Center within the City Hall building of Candon was approved by the mayors of the Second District of Ilocos Sur.
There was a Ribbon Cutting at the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and MOA-signing between and among all the stakeholders all committed to provide Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents easy access to the programs and services of the agencies.
These allied government agencies shall designate a staff personnel every Thursday of the week for the One Stop Shop Processing for Balik Manggagawa and DOLE allied services.
Those in attendance were program initiator Congressman of the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur, Hon. Eric D. Singson, Regional Director Grace Y. Ursua of DOLE Region 1, Director Preciosa R. Sienes of POEA, Director Rosario S. Ilo of OWWA and representatives of TESDA, Philhealth, Pag-ibig Fund and the City Mayor of Candon, Ericson G. Singson, M.D.
They all gave their messages and commitment to the program. In their speeches, Congressman Singson mentioned about the future of the Candon PESO to include tech-voc trainings while the City Administrator, Madam Grace G. Singson, announced that the GSIS and NSO will soon join the alliance of government services in the one-stop shop office here in Candon.
The afternoon event also hosted the Anti-Illegal Recruitment/Anti-Trafficking in Persons Campaign Seminar conducted by The Department of Labor and Employment and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
In attendance were Barangay Captains of the city, ABC Presidents, PESO Managers and Local Civil Registrars of the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur. The seminar was intended to familiarize and inform the participants about all the programs of the 2 agencies regarding illegal recruitment so as to curb and eliminate such illegal acts that victimize our citizens.
