Her hands are already full. A businesswoman engaged in eatery, catering and handicrafts. Most of all, a full time mother to two growing up siblings, who resides in Barangay Palacapac, Candon City.
But the lure of service to her community was too much to ignore.
Irene T. Casiño took the challenge to be Barangay Nutrition Scholar despite starting on voluntary basis.
She took it head-on to help Palacapac’s journey to a healthy and well nourished community.
BNS Irene with her innate love of service was able to provide an effective means of nutrition information and services to the community.
She was able to put linkages to different programs and activities in support of the nutrition program of the barangay through “Pabasa sa Nutrition”; different seminars or lectures about nutrition, organic farming and the like; giving assistance to senior citizens and community; participating in the clean and green program of the barangay; tree planting and other various activities of the barangay.
She was at the forefront in providing the basic health and nutrition services of her barangay.
Furthermore, she became a key implementer of the numerous projects and programs in the barangay with nutrition council and community as well.
Her work, dedication and performance were not left unnoticed.
She is the most awarded BNS in the city after winning the city’s most outstanding BNS recognition for four consecutive years in the city’ DURAS search.
It made her a consistent provincial BNS awardee with this year bagging the most outstanding BNS recognition during the provincial government sponsored SIGLAT search.
Finally after runner up honors, Irene
catapulted all the way to the top as winner of the coveted Regional Most Outstanding BNS top plum.
It served as her added inspiration and motivation to continue her works in the community.
She also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the support of the community, her fellow BNS and other health care workers and above all thanked Almighty God for guidance and blessings.
Like a true blue BNS, Irene will continue her work with a great pleasure and big heart for others.
She believes that as long as the community will do their part, she will always be their tireless BNS for their sake and in the name of genuine public service.
