Candon City made it three in a row as ka–SIGLATAN LGU (City and first class to third class LGU category) to earned the Hall of Fame recognition in the annual Salisal Iladawan na Gaget ti Lumugar, Agsaknap ti Timpuyog (SIGLAT) search of the provincial government of Ilocos Sur recently.
“It is a huge recognition that we share with our fellow Candonians and all stakeholders,” City Mayor Ericson Singson said.
City Mayor Singson personally received the plaques from Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis Singson and other provincial officials in the awarding rites held at Vigan Convention Center as part of the month long Ylocos Kannawidan festivities.
The City Mayor was accompanied by City Administrator Grace Singson, City councilors Kristelle Singson, Nestor Itchon, Aileen Acal, David Wagayen, Godofredo Abrero, Florendo Mangasar, ABC President John Paul Singson, IP Representative Samuel Mendoza, SK Pres Emil Grace Cortado together with CLGOO Rocelyn Charina B. Flora, CPDC Engr. Naulie Cabanting, CHRMO Doris Manzano, CSWDO Alma Gabor, City Coop Officer Grace Ramos, CIO Jun Balbin and other city employees and the more than 300 barangay officials and other awardees from the city.
DILG Assistant Regional Director Victoria Ramos served as the guest speaker with DILG Provincial Director Virgilio Sison also present.
Barangay Palacapac headed by Punong Barangay Jeaniero Gadingan spearheaded city’s different awards by winning the Best in Nutrition Program Implementation, safest and most peaceful barangay, Best in Agricultural Productivity, Outstanding Barangay Tanod and Outstanding Small Medium Entrepreneur won by Angelita Wagayen.
Barangay San Andres under the leadership of Punong Barangay Dalila Belloza captured the best in Culture and arts, Best in Barangay Herbary and Best in GAD Program Implementation .
Barangay Paypayad led by Punong Barangay Juan Soliven was adjudged as Best in Fish production and aquaculture while Tamurong segundo headed by Punong Barangay Elma Terceño won the Best in Sports Development Program Implementation.
Other winners were Tablac led by Punong Barangay Ronald Torres made it three in a row as Best in child Development Center, Langlangca Primero headed by Punong Barangay Nicasio Rigor emerged as Outstanding Farmers Association, Patpata Primero led by Punong Barangay Rodolfo Gacutan garnered the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar, and Calaoa-an led by Punong Barangay Rosemarie Galdones has the best barangay treasurer in the person of Thelma Malamion as she was named as outstanding Treasurer.
Other Candon City barangays that won recognitions were Darapidap, San Jose, Patpata Segundo, Parioc Segundo led by Punong Barangays Eduardo Villanueva, Ernesto Abigania, Junar Valdez, Romeo Pilor respectively.
Also the maintenance award (hall of fame awardees that sustained their good performance) : Calaoa-an for Youth and Sports Devt Program, DCW Celia de Peralta of Tablac, Oaig Daya for Livestock Program and Galpri Langlangca for NGO were given recognition.
