AS I SEE THINGS

            You take life too seriously and you die seriously.

            You take life unseriously and you live seriously and relaxingly.

            You agree seriously, and that’s good life.

            You disagree unseriously, and that’s a better life.

            In times like this, you need not live too seriously.

If you do or live seriously then you seriously disagree with George Carlin’s principles of good living.

“Most people take life much too seriously and worry about all the wrong things: security, advancement, prosperity, all those things that give you heartburn. I think people would be better off if they relaxed and had a little more fun, “says George Carlin.

Think about: We are all here on top of the world, zipping around a bad star for in good reason. Yeah, we don’t know our incipiency, we don’t know our night destination, and how long we gonna last here on Mother Earth, and we keep on going to somewhere or better to the CR. And on top of all these things, the whole thing is void and meaningless.

Do you ever stop to think about that?

It’s all meaningless.

Think of this and see if it’s meaningful.

Did you ever see these people who drive with their headlights on in the daytime, because they think it’s safer? You know what would be fun? To smash head on into a guy like that, just to show him that his idea doesn’t (or does) work.

If you can’t see it’s meaning. Then that’s the meaning.

Playboy is a man whose chief interest is the pursuit of pleasure. The opposite is playgirl.

The lovers of flesh, more flesh, and bare skin surely don’t welcome the protest of those who are against the coming of playboy Philippines here.

The macho men, those feeling macho, those who love to see in pictorials two-piece bikini damsels. Frontal nudity, welcome the playboy magazine.

These men and their tribe are happy because the playboy magazine is a de-stressing reading material a too serious life is reduced to a less serious life.

On the other hand, many women or moral-conscious women hate the idea. I mean the introduction of playboy Philippines here. But long long time ago, Playboy exists here to give pleasure to beauty- conscious readers. It didn’t only create a big stir here then.

Some beauties here say playboy makes them insecure. Still others say ladies are being exploited in business. They don’t only know that beautiful ladies are the best ingredients in advertisement or business.

Yeah, If a product creates a big stir like an earthquake that is 6 on the richter commodity to the market Playboy Philippines is not the exception.

Again the Anti-Playboy Philippines feminists see it as a sort of pornography.

The fair was held recently at the cavernous Megatrade Halls 2& 3. It was attended exhibitors and producers from Regions 1 to 5, each bringing their best products from their regions.

The opening ceremonies was attended by officials of the DTI, NEDA and other attached agencies.

Candon took pride in our tasty cornik and the kalamay, our declared One Town, One Product which attracted quite a following this year due to the new packaging that the DTI & DOST has proposed.

OTOP's from the other regions were pina cloth from Laguna, wooden products and the famous Ifugao coffee from the Cordilleras, crunchy pili from nuts from Albay, salted red eggs from Isabela and Malabon, citrus fruits from Nueva Vizcaya, meat products from Pampanga, beautiful crafted jewelries and delicious sweets from Bulacan, organic soaps and creams from enterprising individuals and many more.

This island fair is an annual project of the Department of Trade and Industry as a venue for LGU's and private businessmen to showcase the best of their products.

It was introduced by the indefatigable DTI Undersecretary Carissa Cruz Evangelista which was composed by the author, Mrs. Trinidad Reyes and Mrs. Liza Abaya president of the Calamay Vendors Association and was supported by the City Mayor Allen G. Singson, and Tourism Committee Chairman, Rosario Villalobos who attended the affair together with fellow city councilor Rhodana Abrero.

Also joining were Mrs. Marlyn Pitargue and Mr. Rogelio Tejada.

Ilocos Sur' last rebel Don Isabelo Abaya was given the much recognition during 110th Independence Day celebration in line to the government's simultaneous nationwide flag-raising and government service delivery program.
 Chosen as the regional venue as full appreciation of Abaya's heroic and leader of the Candon uprising' Ikkis ti Candon' ( Cry of Candon) as he led the fight against the spaniards' oppressions and abuses 110 years ago.
 "We are deeply honored that our local hero was given such recognition for his contribution to the fight for Philippine independence during the Spanish time," City Mayor Allen Singson said.
 DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. was the guest of honor with Deputy Speaker Eric Singson, Ilocos Sur Gov. Doegracias Victor Savellano and City Mayor Singson leading local leaders in the affair.
 After the simultaneous flag raising, wreath was offered to the monument of Abaya which is built at the city's plaza.
 The life size statue shows Abaya or popularly called as Don Belong hold a bolo in his right hand while a red flaglet in his left on top of a galloping horse.
 As part of the public service program, Ebdane led the distribution of cash and goods including rice to 420 families benefited from the three  'food for work' program of DPWH assisted by the City Government.
 Medicines for botica sa barangay and Philhealth cards were also given to the recipients.
 Abaya led the declaration 'Republic of Candon' in March 25, 1898, more than two months before the declaration of Philippine Independence.
 The said date was eventually adopted as Candon's foundation day and city's fiesta main day. ( LBJ)
